Following Betty White’s critically acclaimed performance on “Saturday Night Live,” Facebook campaigns have started to request the actress to make more public appearances. One campaign sprung up to get her signed as a host for the Emmy Awards while another facebook group wants the Oscar committee to choose her as the host for next year’s Academy Awards. Jimmy Fallon has already been confirmed as the host of the Aug. 29 Emmys, but blogger Abe Gurko who started the campaign, states: “It is quite obvious after Betty White’s job hosting ‘SNL’ on May 8th, that she is more than worthy of hosting the 2010 Emmys.” The Greek-American showbiz legend who turned 88 this year agreed to host ‘SNL’ after a 500,000-member Facebook campaign. Her appearance got the highest ratings for the NBC show in 18 months.
White’s Greek heritage comes from her mom’s side whose last name was Cachikis.
