Zach Galifianakis will be staring in a new role as an action hero in the upcoming film Operation: Endgame. The movie trailer was released online July 7th with a somewhat surprising announcement that it will be a straight to Blu-ray/DVD release.
The film has a huge line up of other stars including Joe Anderson, Rob Corddry, Ellen Barkin, Odette Yustman, Maggie Q, Zach Adam Scott, Brandon T. Jackson, Emilie de Ravin, Bob Odenkirk, Ving Rhames and Jeffrey Tambor. It will be exciting to see what director Fouad Mikati has done with all of this talent in this new action/comedy flick.
The movie is set around two teams of rival assassins, Alpha (Zach’s team) and Omega, that are locked in an underground facility with orders to turn against each other. Guns have been locked up so the teams must rely on everyday office supplies to help them defeat each other.
Galifianakis plays the role of “The Hermit,” and is introduced during the trailer as an ex-agent who used to be an assassin before he got diabetes.
The trailer looks a lot better than a straight-to-DVD movie would imply. Hopefully Galifianakis continues to bring the laughs, but we won’t know until July 27th when it’s released.
