Elina Loukas and Manos Gavras Cast in New Action/Thriller Movie

Cypriot actress Elina Loukas and Greek actor Manos Gavras have been cast in the up coming action/thriller titled “A Stranger in Paradise.” The film will star Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed), Catalina Sandino Moreno (Oscar Nominated for Maria Full of Grace)  and Stuart Townsend ( The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).

The film will be directed by Jay Boccia and will be produced by Jay Boccia of 24/7 Films and Daemon Hillin of Hillin Entertainment.  The film will be executive produced by Paul Dominique Vacharasinthu and then Rachvin Narula and Kulthep Narula of Benetone Films. Production will start on October 16th 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand.

On the verge of making partner, Josh Pratt’s life is turned upside down when the SEC investigates the head of his multi-billion dollar hedge fund for insider trading. Forced into a well-timed “vacation” he never asked for Josh finds himself in Bangkok with a price on his head, a morally ambiguous brother who is knee deep into the Thai mafia, and a propensity for getting shot at. Unfortunately for Josh, the only way out is to give up information he doesn’t know he has.

The sordid and colorful streets of Bangkok come alive in this fast paced action thriller as Josh sorts out the gritty truth behind wall street money laundering only to end up in a tangled web of lies, deceits, and half truths which overturn everything he thought he once knew and might just get him killed.

Manos Gavras is recognized as one of Greece’s most in demand film, stage and television performers.  He starred in many critically acclaimed stage productions including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Talking Cure and the lead role in Don Carlos for the prestigious Royal Theater of Greece.While working extensively in the theater, Manos became a householdname with a recurring role in the hit TV comedy It Will Happen to You (Tha vreis ton Daskalo sou) and with his starring roles in the box office hits Soula Ela Xana, I-4 and First Time Godfather.

Internationally, he co-starred in the stage production Timeworm opposite Oscar Award winning F. Murray Abraham directed by Tom O’Horgan in New York.  In 2010 Manos was featured alongside Jennifer Lopez in the film The Back-Up Plan directed by Alan Poul and immediately after returned to Greece for his role in Paramount Pictures’ release The Kings of Mykonos (from King’s Speech producers) which landed on the top-ten list of the highest grossing film openings in Australia.

Elina Loukas has been acting for ten years. Over the years, she starred in a number of weekly television sitcoms produced by Sigma T.V in Cyprus and performed in many Theater productions in Cyprus and New York including the musical “Grease” and the “Psychiatrist” with the Mastic Theater. Recently she was one of the lead actresses in a T.V Series called “On 31 street” which was filmed in New York. The show was produced by Mega Channel.
