Greece Enters ‘Unfair World’ for Best Foreign Film Oscar

Filippos Tsitos has already received much praise for his film “Unfair World,” and now Greece has chosen it to represent the country in the Oscar ballot for best foreign-language film.

The film is based on a 60-year-old Greek interrogator (played by Antonis Kafetzopoulos) who decides to dismiss all criminals based on the idea that because their lives were miserable, it left them no choice but to have engaged in bad behavior. In a turn of events, he ends up accidentally killing someone with just one eye-witness who he must convince to help him prove his intent was not to actually commit the crime.

“Unfair World” has been awarded honors at the Hellenic Film Academy Awards and the San Sebastian Film Festival.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences is scheduled to release the list of nominations on January 15, 2013. The Awards will take place February 24.
