Indican Acquires “A Green Story” to Be Released on Earth Day

Indican Pictures has acquired exclusive North American rights to Paramyth Films’ Van Vlahakis biopic “A Green Story,” and plans an April theatrical release in conjunction with Earth Day. Variety reports that the distributor also holds all video, television, ancillary and VOD rights in North America. Deal was announced Thursday at Toronto.

The movie premiered officially at the 2012 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival. It is a biographical tale based on the life of Van Vlahakis, a Greek immigrant who traveled to the US with just a few dollars and ended up creating one of the most successful green products to hit the market through his company, Earth Friendly Products.

Directed by Nika Agiashvili, “A Green Story” stars Hollywood veteran Ed O’Ross as Van Vlahakis, “American Pie” actress Shannon Elizabeth as his daughter Kelly, Billy Zane as a ruthless entrepreneur trying to strike a deal with Earth Friendly Products, and Annabella Sciorra as Van’s love interest. The ensemble cast is rounded out with Malcolm McDowell, Alexis Georgoulis, and Greek-Australian actor Louis Mandylor.

The deal was brokered by Glen Reynolds and Zac Reeder from Circus Road Films.
