Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos is joining the board of councilors at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
The California-based school made the announcement Tuesday. Gianopulos joins other industry folk who also serve on the Board, including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Sidney Poitier and Robert Zemeckis.
Members on the USC Board offer leadership in the school’s planning and development as well as assist in fundraising efforts.
Gianopulos took over as sole chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment on January 1. He is considered a pioneer of sorts in the industry, especially in the area of digital downloading. The Greek-American was also recently honored at the Leadership 100 Conference, alongside actress Nia Vardalos and director Alexander Payne.
