Memoirs of Spyros P. Skouras Released in New Book

image001Considered one of the most influential Greek immigrants in American history, a new book revealing the memoirs of Spyros P. Skouras (1893-1971) recently hit bookshelves.

From author Ilias Chrissochoidis, Ph.D, it is the first time Skouras’ memoirs have been released. In his lengthy sixty-year career, Skouras shaped two industries – film and shipping – and turned Twentieth Century-Fox into a global film leader, introducing CinemaScope to Hollywood. The unique lens was used for shooting widescreen movies, revolutionizing cinema. He also masterminded Century City in Los Angeles. Most notably, he is known for saving millions of Greeks from starvation and disease during World War II.

Coinciding with Skouras’ 120th birth anniversary, the book is a timely contribution to American, Greek Diaspora, and film history that will inspire younger generations to pursue the intertwined ideals of business excellence and public service.
