‘Spartacus’ Star Cast in ‘Hercules 3D’

gs_liam_mcintyre_spartacus_1Liam McIntyre, who stars as the lead in the television series “Spartacus: War of the Damned,” is joining Renny Harlin’s feature film, “Hercules 3D.”

The casting news comes just after the announcement that actor Kellan Lutz has been selected to play Hercules. McIntyre will take on the role of army captain Sotiris, a character, according to the Hollywood Reporter, that “becomes Hercules’ most trusted battlefield companion,” and when an “evil king deceives them, Hercules and the captain are sold into slavery and must fight side by side to earn their freedom.”

The film is the Australian actor’s Hollywood big-screen debut. “Spartacus: War of the Damned,” which airs on Starz, is the first leading gig he picked up in the U.S.

“Hercules 3D” is scheduled to begin shooting this May in Bulgaria, and boasts a $70 million budget. It is being produced by Nu Image/Millennium.
