Golden Globes Nominations Announced; Payne’s ‘Nebraska’ Scores Big

golden_globes_logoThe nominees for the 71st Annual Golden Globes were officially unveiled during a ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this morning.

Alexander Payne scored a Best Director nomination for “Nebraska.” The film was also nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy; Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Bruce Dern); Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (June Squibb); and Best Screenplay – Motion Picture.

“Blue is the Warmest Color,” a festival and awards favorite that stars Lea Seydoux and Greek-French actress Adele Exarchopoulos, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

Tom Hanks was nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role in “Captain Phillips.”
