Greek-American actor Billy Zane is taking on a new — and techy — role in the indie feature “Mining For Ruby.”
In the romantic drama, Zane plays Professor Sam Goodwell, the advisor to the film’s female lead, Ruby, a grad student environmental activist who falls for a widower. Things get sticky when Ruby, against the advice of Professor Goodwell, gets tangled up in a hazardous waste crisis.
In a recently released clip, Professor Goodwell and Ruby sit down to talk about the unfortunate situation she’s in.
“We are cautious, skeptical and responsible,” Zane says to Antoinette Kalaj, who plays Ruby. “You are gambling with your reputations.”

The film, directed by Zoe Quist, also stars Mischa Barton and Jonathan Bennett.
