2015 has been going extremely well for Greek-French film composer Alexandre Desplat; two of his soundtracks were nominated for Oscars (“The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “The Imitation Game”), and he ended up winning the Academy Award for “Grand Budapest Hotel.”
Now, BMI has chosen to honor Desplat for Outstanding Career Achievement at theirĀ 2015 Film & Television Awards on May 13, held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Previous award winners include famed composers Alan Menken and John Barry.
Desplat has produced plenty of award-worth work over the years for movies such as “The Queen,” “Argo,” and “The King’s Speech” to name a few. The composer is a favorite for filmmakers and actors ranging from Wes Anderson to George Clooney, who repeatedly work with him.
Other honorees of the evening include Walt Disney Music president Chris Montan, who will receive the Classic Contribution Award for over thirty years of work, as well as composers working on top-rated primetime shows, cable series and films.
Desplat is continuing to churn out incredible soundtracks and is currently working on “Suffragette,”Ā starring Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, andĀ “The Light Between Oceans” withĀ Michael Fassbender.
