Tina Fey is Back on NBC with New Sitcom

After the smash success of Tina Fey‘s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmid” on Netflix, her old network NBC apparently wants their old writer back with a new show for their line-up.

Fey had previously worked as a writer and actress on both “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” for NBC, both of which were great hits for the network.

Tina Fey’s new sitcom will be written by herself, long-time collaborator Robert Carlock who also co-wrote her previous NBC sitcoms, and “The Mindy Project” writer Tracey Wigfield.

The plot centers around a mother-daughter relationship that becomes somewhat tense when “an overly involved New Jersey mom gets an internship at her daughter’s workplace, a cable news network”, according to the show’s summary.

The new show by Fey is one of three new sitcoms ordered by NBC that will focus on smart and complex female protagonists. Tina Fey has always been an outspoken feminist, advocating greater and more complicated parts for women in Hollywood, so getting back on NBC with a female-centric show is a great victory for her all around.
