The Producers Guild of America (PGA) just announced it will honor Jim Gianopulos with its 2016 Milestone Award at the 27th Annual PGA Ceremony.
When asked why they chose to honor the Greek-American CEO of 20th Century Fox with a Milestone Award, PGA co-chairs Michael DeLuca and Jennifer Todd released the following statement:
“Jim Gianopulos has some of the keenest instincts in our business. His leadership at 20th Century Fox hasn’t just moved the studio forward, it’s broadened the craft of cinema. Instantly iconic motion pictures like “Avatar”, “Titanic”, “Sideways”, “Life of Pi”, and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” have redefined the creative possibilities for movies; those films happened because of Jim’s willingness to take risks on great storytelling. We are overjoyed to celebrate Jim this year by presenting him with the Producers Guild’s Milestone Award.”
The ceremony will take place on January 23, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. The Milestone Award is highly considered to be the PGA’s highest honor, and has previously been awarded to film visionaries such as Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg.
Gianopulos showed his gratitude to the film industry and the PGA by stating that “one of the great benefits of this job is to work with incredibly talented filmmakers and executives. I am truly thrilled to be honored and to celebrate their achievements with this prestigious award.”
The hard-working CEO has received several awards over this past year, including an EmPOWerment Award for his active role in including strong, educated women behind the scenes at 20th Century Fox, and a “Pioneer of the Year” award from CinemaCon.
