Ted Sarandos Pays for ‘Beasts of No Nation’ Actor’s Education

Under the direction of Ted Sarandos, Netflix has just released its first original narrative feature titled “Beasts of No Nation”.

Not only did Netflix find previously unknown Ghanaian locals such as Abraham Attah to play characters in the story, but Ted Sarandos has now personally guaranteed that he will pay for lead actor Attah’s education through the end of high school.

Before starring in “Beasts of No Nation”, Attah was a 14-year old Ghanaian street vendor. After filming, director Cary Fukunaga and Sarandos enrolled Attah in a boarding school in Ghana to continue his education, of which he previously had little.

Attah is currently at a 7th grade level, and is being home schooled while doing the press tour for “Beasts of No Nation”; his future is looking bright as, in addition to his education, he has already been cast in another project.

“Beasts of No Nation” follows a child soldier named Agu throughout his experiences getting drawn into and fighting in a civil conflict in Africa. Critics raved about the film, and industry insiders predict possible awards for the feature in the upcoming award season.
