If you’ve been watching television or been to the movies this past weekend, chances are you saw the above trailer for Tina Fey’s new dark wartime comedy, “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”.
Tina Fey stars as an American journalist who experiences some personal crises in her life back home, and decides to get out of town to cover the wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A British journalist more experienced with wartime reporting, played by Margot Robbie, takes her under her wing when Fey’s character realizes it’s a man’s world there.
The movie is based on the memoir of real-life journalist Kim Baker, “The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan”. Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, and Alfred Molina also star in the dark wartime comedy.
In addition to starring in the film, Fey also produced the movie, which is being directed by “Crazy Stupid Love” director Glenn Ficarra. Fey really loved her role in the film, because as she revealed in an interview, “For me to get to do a movie where I fly in helicopters and shoot guns and run from explosions, that’s a treat.”
Tina Fey has been keeping busy lately, with appearances on SNL and the release of her movie “Sisters” with Amy Poehler, in addition to continuing work on her Netflix series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.
“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” will premier in theaters all across the US on March 4, 2016.
