Dave Bautista Joins ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

DaveBautista

Dave Bautista has just signed on to act in the “Blade Runner” sequel currently in the works, over 30 years after the release of the first movie starring Harrison Ford in 1982.

The Greek-Filipino wrestler rose to fame in the acting world after his role in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, which he will continue to portray for the film’s sequel coming out next year.

Now, it appears his career is continuing to soar after his recent role in the James Bond film “Spectre”, as he will be appearing alongside Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Robin Wright in the new “Blade Runner” movie.

Though filming is expected to start in July, the film won’t be released until 2018 according to producers. Denis Villeneuve, the director of the critically-acclaimed “Sicario”, will be directing the sequel.

Not much is known about the second film’s story yet, except that it will pick up several decades after the first movie wrapped up. The first movie was set in 2019 dystopian Los Angeles, so most viewers assume the second film will be set way further into the future.

Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original “Blade Runner” script, and Michael Green have written the new screenplay. Hopefully, Fancher brings the same story elements to the table that made the original “Blade Runner” such a respected hit.
