After being the chairman and CEO of the 20th Century Fox film studio for many years, Jim Gianopulos is moving on and Stacey Snider is taking his place as studio head.

Now 65 years old, and having spent the last 25 years of his career at 20th Century FOX, Gianopulos will be moving on within the corporation to a new significant role with his parent company, 21st Century FOX. Though not many specifics are known at the moment, he will continue to report to FOX’s executive chairman and CEO (Lachlan Murdoch and James Murdoch).

Stacey Snider, his replacement, has been working with the studio for the last 17 months.

Gianopulos’ co-workers had a lot to say about the legendary CEO’s departure; after all, he turned the 20th Century FOX film studio into a financial powerhouse, most recently with the surprise hit “Deadpool”. The Murdoch family stated “Jim has played an integral role in growing our global film business into the powerhouse it is today. We’ve benefited tremendously from his creative insights, his vast knowledge of international markets, and from his unique understanding of the technologies shaping our future. We look forward to continuing to work with Jim in a new strategic capacity after the close of his current contract term.”

There are rumors that Gianopulos himself has some worries about the operations of the studio after he leaves in June 2017, but when asked for comment he seemed to look toward the future, stating, “I’m looking forward to this final year of an amazing 25-year journey at the studio, and to exciting new adventures.”
