The popular TNT drama “Rizzoli & Isles”, starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, bid farewell to its audience yesterday after 7 seasons on the air.
Though there are rumors that the show will return later on, it seems most likely that the cast will be looking for new projects in the future.
For those unfamiliar with the show, “Rizzoli & Isles” is a crime drama based on a series of books by Tess Gerritsen. The main characters are Jane (Angie Harmon), a tough Boston detective, and Maura, a medical examiner from a wealthy family; the duo work together to solve a variety of strange and complex crimes, and develop a tight-knit friendship over the course of their investigations.
Angie Harmon has an actual farewell party in the finale itself, since her character in the show leaves Boston for a teaching job at Quantico.
Though the show is over, “Rizzoli & Isles” accomplished quite a lot in its 105-episode run. The premiere was even recognized as the most successful commercial-supported cable series launch of all time!
Fans are sure to miss this summer show, but we also can’t wait to see what Angie Harmon has in store for her next in Hollywood.
