‘The Hollywood Reporter’ Will Honor Tina Fey with Leadership Award

“The Hollywood Reporter” recently announced that it will honor writer, producer, and actress Tina Fey with its prestigious Sherry Lansing Leadership Award.

The award is intended to recognize women who are pioneers and leaders in their industries. Previous honorees include Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, Barbara Walters, and Jodie Foster, just to name a few, so Fey will be sharing the title with some of the brightest and most respected voices in both the news and entertainment industries.

Sherry Lansing, the former CEO of Paramount Pictures and the first woman to head a Hollywood studio, whom the award is named after, expressed her enthusiasm about awarding Tina Fey. She told “The Hollywood Reporter” that, “I am thrilled that The Hollywood Reporter has chosen to recognize Tina. Her remarkable professional achievements and philanthropic generosity have greatly inspired me and hundreds of millions of people worldwide….The Hollywood Reporter could not have chosen a more deserving individual to honor.”

Lansing’s and Fey’s paths had already crossed when Lansing greenly Tina Fey’s first feature film and cult comedy hit “Mean Girls”. Since then, Tina Fey has done remarkable work, writing, producing and starring in top-rated shows like “30 Rock” and Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”. In addition, she is an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and gender equality in Hollywood, and published some of these views in her autobiographical book “Bossypants”.

The award will be given to Fey on December 7, at the VIP Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles. Megyn Kelly will deliver opening remarks, and Ryan Murphy will also be honored with the Equity in Entertainment Award, the first of its kind.

Murphy will be honored thanks to his efforts in launching Half, a foundation that aims to have 50 percent of all director slots on his shows filled by women, people of color and members of the LGBTQ community.
