Betty White Opens Up About Life and Acting On CNN

95-year old comedienne and actress Betty White sat down with CNN for a personal interview about her early career, accomplishments, and take on acting.

The highly acclaimed actress – White has won a Grammy, seven Emmy Awards, and three SAG Awards – talks about the sidelining of funny women in the golden age of Hollywood.

She says, “It was a little out of character, a little unfeminine, to be…you shouldn’t be funny”.

White’s career in the industry has now officially spanned 78 years – an entire lifetime for some. She rose to notoriety on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in the 70s, and truly became a household name after starring on the TV show “The Golden Girls” in the 80s.

The actress also gave a shout out to another famous Greek actress when asked about her opinion on current funny ladies: “Tina Fey may be the best”, White told CNN.

White closed out the interview with her trademark humor and gratitude, saying “I am the luckiest old broad on two feet….I’m still able to get a job, at this age. I will go to my grave saying ‘Can I come in and read for that tomorrow?'”

The interview is part of a new limited series on CNN titled “The History of Comedy”. You can watch Betty’s full interview on the series, which airs Thursday at 10 PM.
