Michael Chiklis will be starring in a new dramatic film set in the early years of the AIDS epidemic called “1985”, alongside Virginia Madsen, Cory Michael Smith (“Gotham”), Noah Schnapp (“Stranger Things”) and Jamie Chung (“Big Hero Six”).
The plot revolves around Smith’s character, Adrian, who has full-blown AIDS and a short time left to live. He visits his estranged parents in Texas (Chiklis and Madsen), but has trouble revealing his problem to them, especially after reconnecting with his brother and old girlfriend.
“1985” is based on a short film by Yen Tan of the same name that won the SXSW’s festival special jury prize. Tan decided to develop the script into a feature, and will also be directing this full-length version of the story.
Filming will begin in Texas in late May.
