“The Wedding Party”, a romantic comedy amazingly shot in one take by Greek-American director Thane Economou, has landed a distribution deal and will now be available for purchase on DVD, Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play.
We had spoken with Economou about his artistic vision for the film, his inspiration for the story, and the technical challenges of shooting a 119-minute movie in only one take, an ambitious artistic feat. Economou emphasized that beyond the technical aspect of a one-shot movie, he wanted to film in this way in order to provide an immersive experience for the audience.
The film stars Michael Adler, Molly Burnett, and Deniz Akdeniz. It follows a best man as he tries to keep a wedding reception from falling into chaos in order to maintain order at his best friend’s wedding.
Economou was inspired to create the script after being a groomsman himself at several weddings one summer, and seeing how terribly things can go wrong.
