Christina Kounelias Elected to Academy Board of Governors

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has just finished its elections for its 2017-2018 Board of Governors, and marketing officer Christina Kounelias has been elected to a position as governor of the Academy’s Public Relations Branch.

Kounelias was the Academy’s Chief Marketing Officer, where she oversaw all marketing, communications, and digital media pertaining to the Oscars. She now works at Participant Media, where she has been advanced to executive VP of worldwide marketing and communications.

According to the Academy’s mission statement, the “Board of Governors sets the Academy’s strategic vision, preserves the organization’s financial health, and assures the fulfillment of its mission.”
