Melina Kanakaredes has been cast in the new FOX series “The Resident” as Dr. Lane Hunter, a brilliant, strong oncologist who seems to be at the top of her game.
The Greek-American actress, who rose to fame with her roles in “CSI: NY” and “Providence”, has had arcs on other popular shows in recent years, such as “Private Practice”, but this casting is her return to series regular status on a new TV series.
“The Resident” focuses on an intelligent senior resident who takes an ambitious but naive young doctor through the real world of modern medicine. Within the drama, Kanakaredes’ character will be revealed to be much more complex than she first appears, and will experience her own thriller arc, though little has been leaked about the exact plot.
Joining Kanakaredes in the new FOX drama are Emily VanCamp, Matt Czuchry, Manish Dayal, Bruce Greenwood, and Shaunette Wilson. “The Resident” is written by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi, with Phillip Noyce directing and Antoine Fuqua executive producing.
The series will debut in fall of 2017.
