Tina Fey’s ‘Mean Girls’ Musical Premieres at the National Theatre

Mean Girls Musical

Tina Fey‘s “Mean Girls” musical premiered today, November 20, at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. to overall great reviews.

After the cult hit status of the movie, starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, fans have been anticipating the “Mean Girls” musical for a while, ever since Tina Fey hinted such a project was in the works.

The musical will be moving to Broadway in April, but in the meantime, it’s making a home in the nation’s capital for a few weeks.

Jennifer Perry from “BroadwayWorld” had the following to say: “The musical is in really, really great shape. I hope this one has great success on Broadway. It has the potential to be an audience favorite.”

The “Mean Girls” musical stars Erika Henningsen in the Lindsay Lohan role of Cady, and Taylor Louderman as head mean girl Regina George, with the rest of the “Plastics” being rounded out by Ashley Park and Kate Rockwell.

Though the musical mostly follows the original story, it apparently shows some more of Cady’s life in Africa prior to moving to the US, and takes a bit of a more cynical look at the high school social jungle.

If you are in D.C., check out the “Mean Girls” musical before it moves on to NY; hurry, because tickets are selling out fast!
