A new digital series called “American Woman” will be premiering this year, hosted by CNN’s Brooke Baldwin, which seeks to interview and profile women who have overcome challenges and shattered glass ceilings in different entertainment and media industries. One of the series’ episodes will focus on talented comedienne and actress Betty White.
“American Woman” will be an eight-part series; other women the show focuses on include Issa Rae, Pat Benatar, Diane von Furstenberg, Ava DuVernay, and Sheryl Crow.
Baldwin says she got the idea for the show during her coverage of the 2016 election. “I had never seen and heard so many female voices come together. So now what? What happens to all of those voices? Where are they going to go? I wanted to make sure somebody was listening”, the CNN host stated.
Betty White has often spoken about how she faced a lot of challenges in Hollywood, especially early in her 70-year-career, as women were not supposed to be “funny” back then, and female comedians were looked down on when they were allowed to exist at all.
The CNN series will be available online, so check the American Woman website for details.
