Kate Hudson’s Perfect Day in Greece

In a recent interview, award-winning actress Kate Hudson told Harper’s Bazaar that her perfect day is in Greece and that the country is her ‘happy place’.

Hudson; who spends much time on the Greek island of Skiathos with parents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, went on to describe what her perfect day would be like.

The day starts with an early morning wake up on an island in Greece to the sound of her kids running around.  She goes on to explain that since she is an early riser, she will wake up and open the door at 7:30 am and it will already be warm outside.  She continues by going to buy a double espresso and then walks down to the sea for a swim, while her sons run around on the beach.

An hour later at around 8:30 am, they head back to the house they stay in; in “one of those adorable little Greek houses with whitewashed walls and blue shutters.”  She goes on to say that she makes herself two soft-boiled eggs and waffles.  Her day continues by reading all the various papers, so as to get different points of view rather than just one side of the news.

Around 11 am Hudson tells Harper’s Bazaar that her perfect day continues by going on a hike with her partner.  After that, she will do a pilates workout, followed by light weights.  She goes on to say that for this she wears shorts and a bralette from her Girl Up capsule, which benefits SchoolCycle. This she says is a really great initiative of the United Nations Foundation that provides bikes to girls in Guatemala and Malawi to help them access education and stay in school.

Around 12:30 pm Hudson says she will shower and get dressed.  Her vacation wardrobe includes bikinis, high-waisted shorts, scarves that you can tie in a million different ways, and flip-flops.  The day may continue by boarding a small dinghy-type boat and going to another island for lunch or fried zucchini and moussaka at a seaside taverna.

After lunch, the kids will play on the beach, while she sits and suntans.

“On a perfect day, I never look at my phone, answer e-mails, text anyone, or check Instagram.”

Around 2:30, Hudson tells Harper’s Bazaar, they will get back on the boat and hit a couple of different islands.

“Greece is my favorite vacation spot; I feel really at home there. I love the culture, the people are wonderful, and the water is just so incredibly appealing,” says Hudson.

They will return back to the house around 4:00 pm and spend the rest of the afternoon lying around reading and drinking some rosé wine.

On a perfect day says Hudson, she will never look at her phone, answer e-mails, text anyone, or check Instagram.

She says that it is very easy for her to disconnect and that when she turns everything off, is when she can dream and create, and in return, the good stuff happens.

Hudson’s favorite things to read are biographies and historical fiction. She loves Anne Boleyn and all the kings and queens, and she is fascinated by different aristocracies, the czars, and presidents. However; she tells Harper’s Bazaar that TV is not part of her perfect day.

Hudson goes on to say that at 6:00 pm, some of her closest friends and entire family may gather to watch the magical Greek sunset and have a cocktail before heading into town for a big dinner.

“Happiness to me is good conversation, connection, and lots of laughter. If I could invite anyone to dinner, it would be Bob Marley. I would have loved to meet him and see him in concert,” Hudson tells Harper’s Bazaar.

Hudson’s perfect day in Greece will end at 9:30 pm, as she is up early in the morning, and in bed early at night.
