“Playback” is a supernatural thriller and the cast will star Johnny Pacar as the lead and Toby Hemingway (“Black Swan”), Brooke Smith (“The Namesake”), Alessandra Torresani (Caprica”), Jonathan Keltz, Ambyr Childers, Daryl Mitchell and Jennifer Missoni. The script is written by Nickles and revolves around high school students exploring the mystery of their town’s infamous past and end up unlocking a monster that preys upon their classmates. Possessing its victims through video playback, the demon closes in on one specific soul, threatening to reveal the town’s deepest, darkest secret.

Miss Greece

Miss Greece, Anna Prelevic -who is also of Serbian background- and Miss Cyprus, Demetra Olybiou,were among those who competed for Miss Universe on August 23rd in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort.

The girls were up against over 80 other contestants and they did a great job. This was the 59th Miss Universe pageant, and was hosted by Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales.

The stunning ladies from Cyprus and Greece put up a good race for the crown, but in the end 22-year-old Jimena Navarrete, of Guadalajara Mexico wore the crown home and won the Miss Universe title for 2010. Former Miss Universe, Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela, presented her with the crown.

Later LeAnn tweeted, “Kinda sick of eating out. Haven’t had time to cook lately. Headed to the studio again tomorrow. Maybe cook after! I miss it.”

We can’t seem to get enough of eighty-eight year old Greek-American Actress and Facebook legend, Betty White.  Not only is she being offered leading roles on the big screen, but she will now be writing a series of books called “Books by Betty”. The first book called Listen Up!, will be published in 2011 and will talk about White’s life experience and career including topics like sex, love, aging and celebrity. Her second book, The Zoo and I: Betty and Her Friends, will contain stories and photographs of Betty with animals at various zoos. The book is to be released in 2012.  White admits, “Much as I love what I do for a living in show business, I love writing even more — so I am thrilled to be working on not only one new book but two of them”, who is also board member at the Los Angeles Zoo.

In 1997, White published an autobiography about her life. Since that time, she has done so many things in her life. It is time for Betty to share more of her stories and wisdom with the world in her new books.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Los Angeles stated that 51 year old salon owner Maria Gabriella Perez, has made at least $280,000 unlawful charges in a one-year period.

Aniston was one of several stars that noticed these unauthorized charges on her credit card statements.

Perez is charged with two counts of fraud and faces a maximum 25 years in prison if convicted. She was arrested without incident at her Beverly Hills salon and was due to appear in federal court in Los Angeles.

Although we sympathize with Greek-American Jennifer Aniston for being victim of such a scam; it is no excuse for public use of the word retard! In a recent TV interview on Live with Regis and Kelly, Aniston was speaking about dressing up as Barbara Streisand for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar when she made the offensive remark. “You’re playing dress up!” Regis told her. She replied, “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!”

UsMagazine.com reports comments by Peter Berns, CEO of The Arc (a nonprofit advocate for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities), who said it was “extraordinarily offensive and inappropriate.”

“Frankly, someone in her position ought to know better,” Berns continues to tell Us. “She is using language that is offensive to a large segment of the population in this country. We estimate that there are probably in excess of 5 million people in the country with intellectual disabilities, and when you think about all of them, their family members and friends, you’re talking about tens of millions of people who find the use of that term to be really offensive. Every time folks hear that word, it kind of reminds them of all the discrimination and oppression they’ve experienced in their lives. Even if it wasn’t intended to insult them, that is the effect of it.”

We are sure she didn’t mean it. She is still our favorite Greek-American sweetheart!

Where are you from? What part of Greece? I was born and raised on Long Island, but my Yiayia was from Κρεμαστή and my Papou’s father came from a village called Συκιά.

Where did you study?
I went to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduated a semester early, and booked As The World Turns shortly after that.

Do you think being Greek or speaking Greek make you more attractive in the Hollywood? I, sadly, do not speak any Greek.  My brother is taking an Ancient Greek course at his college right now, and I’m a bit jealous — I’d love to go back to school to study a number of things, and that’s one of them.  In terms of Hollywood desirability, I do think there’s a certain exotic quality that goes along with being Greek, but I don’t think it’s helped me get any roles.

Do you prefer Greece or  the US?
I’ve never been to Greece!  I’m aching to go, and I hope to within the next few years.

What is your role in Last Night? How did you get it?
I play “Maggie,” and let’s just say she’s an acquaintance of Keira Knightley’s character who discovers “Joanna” in a compromising position.  It’s not a very big role, but it’s a fun one.  I actually auditioned for a different, smaller role, but Massy Tadjedin, the director, seemed to think I fit Maggie’s part better.

How is Keira Knightly and Eva Mendez in person?
I only worked with Keira; she’s such a lovely person — absolutely radiant and charming, but a real, friendly, down-to-earth girl.  I adore her.

What are your future plans? Any new projects?
I’m currently taping an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and I did an episode of Nurse Jackie which aired in May.  I’m also working with a wonderful new kids’ band and project called Tim and the Space Cadets.   Their debut music video, which I’m in, is up on YouTube; it’s called “Superhero” and it’s a lot of fun.

What is your dream role, if there is such a thing?
When I was a little girl, I dreamed of playing Athena.  These days, Shakespeare’s Ophelia is the one.

Louie Psihoyos’ father is from Sparta and told us in an exclusive interview that as a kid he believed his father: “could have been one of the strongmen, from the movie 300″.  He is now currently shooting his next film in 3D on location in the Gulf of Mexico.

“We’re shooting a 3-D film whose working title is The Singing Planet,” Psihoyos told Alex Maragos in an interview.
“It’s a film about the mass extinction of wildlife caused by humanity – I think it’s the biggest story out there right now.”

The film takes a close look at the issue of extinction and it examines preventative steps that can be taken to stop it.

It’s not the first time that the legendary Madonna decided to visit Greece. She has been to Mykonos several times in the past also. In addition, Madonna is a fan of other islands of the Aegean including Rhodes, where she made a stop with her yacht before arriving to Mykonos. The infamous pop artist has finally sought refuge on the Greek Isles after shooting her new movie “W.E.” which she directed and co-wrote. The film is about the life of King Edward VIII.
