Thaao Penghlis, the actor of Greek descent who plays Andre DiMera in Days of Our Lives is nominated for an Emmy Award. Penghlis was born in Sydney Australia, and is best known in the US for roles in daytime soap operas such as Days of Our Lives, Santa Barbara, and General Hospital. Another Greek who is involved with the Emmys is Lydia Loizides. She is not nominated for an award, but she is one of the trustees of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Many media insiders call her “one of the most intelligent people” of the industry.
