The 801st reunion of Tommy Lee & Pamela Anderson

By Kia Karidas

They’re baaaaack.

Ten years after divorcing, Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson have decided to give their relationship a second shot, Lee told Rolling Stone.

The Athenian-born, ex-Motley Crue drummer and the ex-Baywatch Beauty were married on a whim in 1995, only several days after meeting. They were divorced three years later, after much trouble, and have now decided to give their much publicized relationship a second shot.

What is nice about this reunion is the effect it seems to be having on the children. The couple’s two sons Dylan, 10, and Brandon, 12, are reportedly very pleased with the reuniting of their parents. Lee told Rolling Stone, “You can tell on the kids’ faces. They’re happy when we’re together.”

The quality of Lee’s family life has always been under public and media scrutiny, and this situation is no exception. In particular because he had been involved in various scandals throughout his career, with media latching on to his six-month jail sentence after allegedly assaulting Anderson while he was married to her.

Supposedly he has cleaned up his act, and now, with his reunion with Pam, the two have vowed to make the relationship work, this time. “We’ve only given it a try 800 times — 801, here we go,” Lee said.

Aside from being a famous bad boy, Tommy Lee is a famous Greek. He was born in Athens, Greece to mother Vasiliki “Voula” Papadimitriou, and to an American army serviceman father David Thomas Lee Bass. His future life in the public eye was preceded by his mother’s celebrity status as “Miss Greece” in 1957.

Shortly after his birth, the family moved to California, where Tommy and his younger sister, Athena Kottak, took an early interest in playing the drums. Tommy’s first successful band involvement was with Suite 19, who played the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles in the late 1970s. Eventually, he joined forces with Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Vince Neil to form the biggest heavy metal band of the 80’s Motley Crue. Tommy contributed with his unique drum performances and his tradition of mooning the audience at nearly every show!

Hopefully the situation will work out much better for Lee and Anderson than it did in the past. It might be worth noting that he has gone vegetarian now that he is back with his former ex-wife. He told ContactMusic, “At this point in my life, I’m down to trying anything I haven’t done yet.”

It will be interesting to see whether or not this vegetarianism will last. In the words of a wise Greek aunt, “That’s okay, that’s okay, Pam make lamb”.
