Nia Vardalos on Gaining Confidence & Parenthood

In a recent interview with CNN, Nia Vardalos, actress and star of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” looked happy and radiant as she talked about her growing confidence in LA and her new role as a mother.

Nia and her husband Ian Gomez, adopted a daughter in 2008, and are advocates for National Adoption Month. The whole experience of motherhood has taken Nia by storm, but she has embraced her new life as much as she has her lovely daughter.

During the Red Chair Interview, Nia spoke about how her household had changed with a youngster in the house, “I just love it,” she gushed. “It’s so interesting to wake up hearing my daughter’s voice. She doesn’t wake up slowly like I do, she’s bursting with energy, describing her dreams and her plans for the day.”

“I’m not even sure if she knows that I’m an actress or what My Big Fat Greek Wedding is, but that’s what is so wonderful… her innocence. Watch the interview below:

Nia also explained, that sometimes she still feels like a little girl herself, never knowing completely what she is doing, but always learning and wanting to to get better at what she does. She tries very hard to follow her mother’s motto: “Be happy with what just happened.” Nia, found that to be true while working on “Larry Crowne” with Tom Hanks.” As the movie was all about what happens when a man loses his job, it was time to think “Yes, what would I do if I didn’t have all this?” “It’s all about staying in the moment.”
