HOMERIC PICTURES, a new boutique independent Film Production Company, owned by Greek Producer Marina Dimitra Yele together with a high professional creative team started operation a few months ago in Hollywood, California.

The Company carries the name of one of the most brilliant and unique storytellers of all time, Homer. In the same manner that Homer’s works exerted enormous influence on the history of fiction, moral messages and literature, the goal of Homeric is to create powerful and meaningful stories that will educate, inspire and most importantly provide quality entertainment to those who seek it.

“Homeric’s goal is to establish a respectful name, where actors, artists and companies can count on to best showcase their talent or services” says Homeric owner and co founder, Marina Dimitra Yele.

“In regards to the movie industry, Homeric’s goal is to create powerful and meaningful films, that will educate, inspire and most importantly provide quality entertainment to those who seek it.”

“The Company started about a year ago, with two main components in mind. The development of Homeric’s Projects, and the need to help and provide quality services for one of the most competitive industries worldwide, acting.”

Greece has recently tried to attract more studio and independent productions to shoot in the country. Having Greek key players in the world’s entertainment capital can help but bureaucracy doesn’t help.

“Greece can easily be one of the most popular filming destinations. It is no wonder why names such as Oliver Stone, Tony Scott and many others have tried to bring their productions there. It is only a matter of bureaucratic obstacles, to be overcome, and the realization that in the midst of a country’s harsh financial times, cinema can be a medium, not only of entertainment, but of education and inspiration.”

The company’s Greek heritage has enriched Homeric’s projects and is a source of inspiration.

Konstantinos Mousoulis, Homeric Pictures co-founder and a film director, notes that: “Greek artists and film makers are the perfect example of “having to discover the diamonds in our back yard”. As artists representing a country with such an incredible history, we have powerful weapons of inspiration from our ancestors, such as mythology, culture, literature, sciences, philosophy. We simply have to learn how to incorporate those weapons into the battlefield of film making. This is also why we named the company Homeric Pictures and our logo is Homer!”

The Greek-owned company besides feature film production is also offering some unique services and brings a new concept of production to Hollywood, where actors are encouraged to participate in the production of the film and tailor it to their artistic needs and aspirations.

“Homeric offers high quality services to starting actors, those who need a better reel and even working professionals who seek a challenge, says Yele.

“We want to emphasize on our clients’ potentials and skills as actors and tailor a strong and challenging role around that, in order to not only promote their work, but also provide a learning experience for those being part of the process.”

The company’s most popular and unique services, is the short films section. Actors, get together, divide the cost of production and make their own short film. In a short period of time the actors involved can simultaneously get: SAG eligibility, IMDB credit both as actors and producers, strong material for their REEL, experience, and also have fun shooting in a professional and friendly environment.

Homeric Pictures recently produced a short movie “Angels without wings” using the companies unique production strategy, by partnering with young talented -and many of them Greek- actors.

“Our clients decided to create a dramatic film and the trigger/theme of their story was “the morning after an intense house party with drugs and sex” explains Konstantinos Mousoulis, the film’s director.

“Through the panic and the intensity of those moments we discover the relationships between characters. Our writer, named the project “Angel Without Wings” creating a 10 min (approx) story with a beginning, middle and end, containing moments for each of the six actors to be able to use for their reel. The film was made with efficiency, in just one day. All six actors got their SAG eligibility, IMDB credit and strong material for their reel.”
