Galifianakis “Invents” Catchphrase

The big heads at swanky Louis Vuitton are not entertained at being the butt of a jokeĀ  in this year’s comedy hit “The Hangover Part II”.

To be more precise, last week they filed a lawsuit against film giants Warner Bros, over a scene in which the drug-addled doofus played by Zack Galifianakis fancies himself, simply because he’s carrying one of the company’s bags. In fact, in the movie he states “..Careful…that’s a Louis Vuitton”.

Who would have thought that the above phrase would become something of a catchphrase, something that apparently didn’t sit very well with the company, since the bag in question is a fake. Not taking a joke lightly, the company demands the knock-off and the catchphrase excised from the all the film’s copies and on top of everything else…compensation derived from the movie’s profits for “good nature”.

It doesn’t come as a surprise to note that, it’s not actually the first time that Louis Vuitton has literally gone after a work of art incorporating one of its products. The same thing happened in the past, only with the specific firm losing the battle.

Now…the situation is that if “Careful, that’s a Louis Vuitton” has really become a catchphrase, then the film makers ought to trademark it. As a result, they can actually sue Louis Vuitton for using that trademark in its litigation against the “Hangover” crowd.

Seriously…where’s humor nowadays?
