A dramatic series based on Lisa Joy’s graphic novel/comic book Headache has been picked up for development by FOX television. The plot revolves around a young woman who finds out that she is Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom.
Based on the book’s synopsis, Athena deals with an “evil” stepmother, Hera, who actually tries to kill her. She also falls in love with a boy, Hades a.k.a the king of the underworld. Zeus, her father, is a philanderer and deadbeat dad. Each episode will involve a storyline on Athena trying to hide her identity while battling Greek mythological monsters and keeping the power struggle between the gods in check.
Joy has written the script to the show, which will be titled “Athena.” Her screenwriting credits also include “Pushing Daisies” and “Burn Notice.”
