Alexander Payne to Shoot ‘Nebraska’ in Home State

Greek-American director Alexander Payne is returning to his home state to begin filming his new project “Nebraska.”

The Oscar winner will shoot the film in black-and-white, and stars Bruce Dern as an estranged father who calls on his son to take him on a road trip from Montana to Nebraska in order to claim a million dollar sweepstakes prize. Stacy Keach and Bob Odenkirk are also part of the ensemble cast.

“Nebraska” is set to begin filming mid-October and continue for seven weeks in various locations, including Lincoln and Norfolk. While still in the pre-production stages, casting – including open calls for locals – and location scouting continue.

Payne also shot “Citizen Ruth,” “Election,” and “About Schmidt” in Nebraska, while his last film, “The Descendants,” starring George Clooney, was shot on-location in California and Hawaii.
