Movie Being Made Based on Greek Artist’s Drawing

sweet_halloween_dreams___P_by_begemott_zpsffafaf32Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may be taking on the role of Hercules in an upcoming film, but it seems the wrestler-turned-actor has now taken on yet another role that involves Greek inspiration.

After Johnson’s assistant found an illustration on the DeviantArt website, he brought it to the actor’s attention. The illustration, “Sweet Halloween Dreams,” from engineer and fantasy artist Alex Panagopoulos, shows a tiny bear holding a sword as he fends off a large monster hovering over a girl sleeping. Johnson was inspired by Panagopoulos’ drawing and decided to sign on as producer, and potential star, after the rights for the film were sold to New Line.

Panagopoulos said in an interview that he has “seen a massive jump in traffic to the piece since the announcement.” He also said that after speaking with Johnson, the actor seemed “enthusiastic about it” and their conversation “eventually resulted in an offer.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line hopes to launch a franchise based on the illustration.

The film is currently going with the title “Teddy Bear.” No writers are attached yet, and a scheduled release date has not been set.
