Michael Symon Brings Greek Food to ‘The Chew’

michael-symon-250x300Chef Michael Symon, one of the hosts of the ABC television show “The Chew,” has incorporated some of his Greek upbringing into the program’s recipes.

Symon, who is of Greek and Italian descent, is not shy when it comes to talking about his background and cooking with his Yia Yia. He’s prepared authentic food on the show, including Phyllo Pie and Greek Lamb Kebobs.

The award-winning chef is also a restaurateur and author. He is the owner of a number of restaurants in the Cleveland area, including Lola, Lolita, and The B Spot. He also owns Roast in Detroit. In 2006, Symon partnered with Telly Hatzigeorgiou, George Pantelidis, and Peter J. Pappas to open Parea in NYC, which featured upscale Greek food. Unfortunately, Parea closed just a year later, but was re-opened as another Greek restaurant.

“The Chew” is a daily cooking talk show, and features Symon, Italian chef Mario Batali, “Top Chef”‘s Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz.
