One of the writers and a co-executive producer of the recently wrapped AMC hit drama “Breaking Bad,” George Mastras, is heading to HBO with a two-year overall deal.

Mastras, who is an Emmy nominated writer and WGA Award winner for his work on “Breaking Bad,” will develop new productions for the pay cable network that has been the home for such popular series as “The Sopranos,” “Sex and the City,” and “Boardwalk Empire,” to name a few. He is also in talks to get involved with HBO’s upcoming ’70s rock ‘n’ roll drama from Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter, and Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, although that has yet to be confirmed.

Besides “Breaking Bad” and his upcoming work with HBO, Mastras wrote for the ABC drama “The Evidence,” and he is the author of the 2009 novel, Fidali’s Way, which was drafted on the islands of Santorini and Folegandros as well as in parts of Indonesia, according to his Acknowledgments included in the book. His sister, Maria, is also in the television industry — she’s a writer/producer on the AMC series “Mad Men.”
