Parthenon Marbles Feature Film ‘Promakhos’ Releases Trailer

PromakhosA feature film that centers on a fictional story about the return of the Parthenon Marbles has just released its first trailer.

Promakhos” is a drama about two Athenian attorneys who pursue litigation for the return of the Parthenon Marbles. As the bronze statue of Athena Promakhos used to stand guard in front of the Parthenon, both must find the courage to stand in defense of what they love.

The film was produced by A Visionary Film and Itasca Films, and is directed and written by Coerte and John Voorhees. It stars Pantelis Kodogiannis, Kassandra Voyagis, Giancarlo Giannini, Georges Corraface, Paul Freeman, Yorgo Voyagis and Spyros Fokas. “Promakhos” is scheduled for release in 2014, though an exact date has not been set yet.

The Parthenon Marbles have been garnering additional attention lately after “The Monuments Men” director and star George Clooney suggested at a press conference in Berlin that the UK should return the artifacts to Greece.
