6_LouisPsihoyosAcademy Award-winner Louie Psihoyos, who won the Best Feature Documentary Oscar in 2010 for “The Cove,” will be screening his most recent project, “6,” at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in NYC.

6” utilizes state-of-the-art equipment, with Psihoyos assembling a team of activists risking their lives intent to show the world never-before-seen images that will change the way people understand issues of endangered species and mass extinction.

Executive produced by Dieter Paulmann, produced by Olivia Ahnemann and Fisher Stevens, and co-produced by Gina Papabeis, “6” features Psihoyos, Shawn Heinrichs, Paul Hilton, Leilani Munter, Heather Rally and Travis Threlkel.

The documentary, which is still a work-in-progress, is being featured as part of the film festival’s Special Screenings.

“Spotlight and Special Screenings are an especially dynamic aspect of this year’s program, both in range of styles and stories,” said Genna Terranova, Director of Programming at the festival. “Many films feature real-life personalities who’ve accomplished extraordinary feats, while in other films we see personal relationships at pivotal moments of transition.”

“6” screens Friday, April 25 at 7:30pm in the BMCC Tribeca PAC and info to obtain a free ticket is available here. The Tribeca Film Festival, founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff, takes place this year from April 16-27.
