After the recent announcement that there will, indeed, be a part two to the hugely successful comedy that became a point of reference for Greek-Americans across the nation, Stamos tweeted at friend (and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” producer) Rita Wilson that his “GREEK ass better be in it.”
With Nia Vardalos returning as writer and star, and Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks once again producing, Stamos has all the right connections to solidify his role in the sequel. He followed up his pitch to appear in the film with a tweet that said he was supposed to appear in the original, but “director issues” prevented him from doing so.
Vardalos’ on-screen husband, John Corbett, will also be reprising his role, and the plot is said to involve the reveal of a family secret and a new wedding which brings the Greek clan back together again (the wedding is described as “bigger and fatter”).
