“Rizzoli & Isles” just kicked off its fifth season on TNT this past week, and Angie Harmon‘s character is in for a new kind of role.
Detective Jane Rizzoli, played by Harmon, learned she was pregnant at the end of Season 4. How it will play out for the tough-as-nails Rizzoli over the course of this season will be interesting to watch.
The drama centers on the Boston detective and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), who are complete opposites and good friends, as they solve crimes and bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals.
After a successful modeling career, Harmon, whose mother is of Greek descent, became a well-known actress when she joined the investigative drama, “Law & Order.” She left the show to appear in a few films, and then returned to a lead role in television when she signed on for “Rizzoli & Isles,” which premiered in 2010. In 2012, she won Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Series for her role as Jane Rizzoli at the 2012 Gracie Allen Awards.
