‘Scarface’ Actor Ted Beniades Passes Away at 91

TedBeniadesTed Beniades, best known for his role as an undercover cop who busted Al Pacino in the movie “Scarface,” has passed away at the age of 91.

Born Theodore Cleanthis BeniadesĀ in the Bronx, NY, he was the oldest son of Greek immigrants Mary and Cleanthis Beniades. According to his family, Beniades passed away peacefully at his home in Brookville, Pennsylvania.

The actor made his Broadway debut at age 29 in “Mister Roberts” with Henry Fonda, and went on to perform in ten Broadway shows.

Beniades appeared in manyĀ feature films, includingĀ “Scarface” alongside Al Pacino, “The Next Man” with Sean Connery, and “The Odd Couple” with Jack Lemmon.

Besides film, he also acted in many commercials and television shows, including “Kojak” opposite Greek-American actor Telly Savalas, and “TheĀ Jackie Gleason Show,” to name a few.

A special memorial service celebrating Ted’s life will be held Saturday, Nov 8 at 1pm at Laurelbrooke Landing, 133 Laurelbrooke Dr., Brookville, Pennsylvania. Flowers are welcome; or memorial contributions may be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research:Ā www.michaeljfox.org.
