Academy Award winner Alexander Payne is onto his next project and his film has also locked in an impressive lead.
Hot off the heels of “Nebraska,” the Greek-American filmmaker worked with his “Sideways” screenwriting partner, Jim Taylor, on the upcoming satire “Downsizing.” According to Deadline, the story is about a guy who realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself.
Matt Damon has signed on to play the lead, with no further details announced.
Last year, Payne’s “Nebraska” was nominated for numerous Golden Globes and Academy Awards, among others. He has won two Oscars already, both for Best Adapted Screenplay; the first with “Sideways” in 2005, and the second for “The Descendants” in 2012.
