Greek-American actor Simon Kassianides has officially been cast in TNT’s new pilot “Lumen” as a series regular. The show focuses on a famous author of fantasy book series who mysteriously disappears. Shortly after her disappearance, a family of four finds themselves in the alternate world of the books’ fantasy environment and the series follows their journey through the mystical new world. Kassianides will be playing the Captain of the Guard in the magical world of Lumen.

The show is written by Chris Black, who has previously written episodes for “Desperate Housewives,” “Ugly Betty” and “Star Trek: Enterprise,” as well as co-produced some “Mad Men” episodes. Director Joe Johnston, who will be working on the “Lumen” series, has previously helmed “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Jurassic Park III.”

Kassianides was born in London, UK, to Greek parents and has previously starred in several television series and film productions. His most recent appearances include a recurring role on “Agents of SHIELD” as well as work in “Quantum of Solace” and “How to Train Your Dragon 2.” These high profile jobs helped him land representation with Don Buchwald, one of the most prestigious Hollywood agencies, as well as his first series regular role in “Lumen.”
