Famous Greek-American comedienne Tina Fey has been responsible for writing and acting in some hilarious television over the past years, including “30 Rock” and multiple episodes of “Saturday Night Live.” She has now created a new comedy series for Netflix, called “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” whose trailer was just released.
The show focuses on the character of Kimmy, played by Ellie Kemper (formerly of “The Office”), and her adjustment to life in New York after years of living in a doomsday cult. Kimmy is a somewhat naive but determined young girl ready to take on the world. The series also stars Jane Krakowski, Tina Fey’s former “30 Rock” castmate.
This bold, original new premise is sure to garner a lot of laughs with Fey, the frequently Emmy-nominated (and winning!) actress, working behind the scenes. Though the show was originally intended for NBC, Netflix picked it up midway through filming, as it has picked up many high-rated, innovative series in the past couple of years.
Fey said there was no bad blood as a result of the switch from NBC and she will continue to work with them in the future. For now, she has a two-season deal with Netflix and all 13 episodes of the first season of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” will be available on the streaming service on March.
Fey has been busy on quite a lot of projects lately, as she also starred in the film “Sisters,” slated for release in 2015, and is now working on an “Untitled Tina Fey Project” that is currently in pre-production.
