Tina Fey appearedĀ on late-night talk show host David Letterman‘s show as part of the host’s farewell round of famous guest stars before he leaves late night TV for good.
True to her generally low-maintenance and feminist personality, Fey told Letterman that would beĀ the last time she ever would wear a fancy dress to a late night show, since it’s the special occasion of his departure.
She joked, “It’sĀ very hard work ā I donāt know if youāre aware of the contraptions under here. It’s almost medical. And I’m terrible in heels.”
Fey had previously been a guest on the show a total of 20 times.
As a last sign that she was serious about her claim, Tina Fey told LettermanĀ āBecause this is my last time wearing a fancy dress on a talk show, and conforming to gender norms out of respect for you, my gift for you is..I want to give you the dress.” And then she did!
The hilarious actress stripped down to a leotard she was wearing underneath that said “Bye Dave!” in all capitals and tossed her dress away.
Tina Fey is currently working behind the scenes on the Netflix show she created, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.
