Alexander Payne To be Honored at Munich Film Festival

Payne 1

The 2015 Munich Film Festival will be honoring the great Alexander Payne with a retrospective showcasing every single movie of the director’s career.

Payne was previously honored at the film festival in 1997 with the High Hopes Award for his feature “Citizen Ruth”.

This year the director’s whole career will be put on display, including the movies “Election”, “Sideways”, “Nebraska”, “The Descendants”, and “About Schmidt”.

In addition to his features the festival will also showcase some of the director’s lesser known creations, including shorts and TV shows such as “King of California” and the “The Savages”, giving audiences a chance to view a wider scope of the director’s body of work.

The Munich Film Festival will take place from June 25 to July 4 with a special ceremony on June 26 for Payne. As the guest of honor, Payne will talk about his life, vision, and career at Filmmakers Live in the Gasteig Black Box.

Currently, Payne is starting pre-production on his latest effort, the star-studded film “Downsizing” featuring Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon.
