Billy Zane has been cast as expat attorney Stan Gutterie in ABC Family’s new show “Guilt”, an “edgy, soapy thriller” set to premiere in the fall.
Zane’s character Gutterie has been banished to England from the US for stepping on one too many judges’ toes.
While practicing law there, he ends up defending an American girl in London who has been accused of murdering her Irish flatmate. The girl is played by Daisy Head, a fast-rising English actress.
The plot is loosely based on the highly publicized case of Amanda Knox, an American student who was convicted and then acquitted of her roommate’s murder in Italy.
The show’s script was written by Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price, the co-writers of the Dwayne Johnson movie “The Game Plan”.
Zane has also been working on filming “Zoolander 2”, which will feature his reappearance from the first movie along with the rest of the cast including Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Christine Taylor.
