In a week with a lot of fashion shows in LA and up and coming designers showing their creations all over the city, up and coming Greek-American designer Maria Korovilas debuted her Spring/Summer 2016 collection today at The Mondrian Skybar.
Guests were treated to cocktails and a live DJ while models presented Korovilas’ beautiful, flowing garments every half hour from 7 PM to 10 PM.
According to Korovilas, her design philosophy “caters to the “thinking man’s sex symbol…” She embraces beauty, brains, and a child-like sense of rose-colored wonder… with a clean twist.”
Her romantic aesthetic and clothes draw inspiration from plenty of sources, including first and foremost the Mediterranean seas, according to the designer.
Korovilas says she grew up “enamored with the linens and laces hand-made by her family in the Greek village of Filiatra”.
The designer is rising fast in the world of fashion, as her collection has been offered by LA boutique Satine, Blake Lively’s Preserve, and most recently Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.
Her new collection turned heads and is sure to bring a touch of the Greek island aesthetic to fashion in LA.
